What to Submit

On-Topic: Anything that boardriders would find interesting. This includes gear, technique, and competitions. If you had to boil it down to one sentence: anything that sparks stoke or curiosity about board sports.

  • New technologies or gear breakthroughs in surfing, snowboarding, skating, etc.
  • Inspiring or educational stories from board sports communities.
  • Safety tips, training regimens, or travel guides related to board sports.
  • Unique or surprising personal experiences with boards sports.

Off-Topic:
Anything not related to board riding. If it's not specifically tied to board sports in a meaningful way, it's probably off-topic.

In Submissions

1. Titles

  • Don't use all caps or exclamation marks for emphasis.
  • Don't add editorial phrases like “Must Read!” or “Incredible!” in the title.
  • If the original title has a site name, remove it (Boardhigh displays the site name after the link).
  • If the title has a gratuitous number, consider simplifying it (e.g.,“10 Ways to Improve Your Surfing” → “How to Improve Your Surfing”). However, if the number is intrinsic (e.g., “The 5 Platonic Solids of Board Shapes”), keep it.

2. Original Source

Submit the original link or source if the content references something found elsewhere.

3. Promotion

Please don't use Boardhigh primarily for promoting your own business, products, or social channels. Sharing your own stuff occasionally is fine, but your main purpose should be to share interesting board sports content.

4. Formatting for Non-Standard Links

If you post a video or PDF, add [video] or [pdf] at the end of the title to let people know.

5. Submissions for the Boardhigh Team

Don't post on Boardhigh to ask questions specifically for the mods or site team. Please email us instead at inmates@boardhigh.com.

6. Reposting and Deletion

Don't delete and repost the same link. Deletion is for content that shouldn't have been submitted in the first place.

7. No Vote Solicitation

Don't ask others to upvote, comment, or submit your post. The community should engage naturally, based on genuine interest.

In Comments

1. Be Kind

No snark or name-calling. Aim for respectful, curious conversation, especially in disagreements.

2. Substance Over Divisiveness

As topics get more heated, comments should become more thoughtful, not less. Address arguments directly. Instead of “That's idiotic,” say why you disagree or provide better evidence.

3. No Sneering or Bullying

Don't sneer at others, the community, or different board sports. Keep negativity out and stoke levels high.

4. Assume Good Faith

Respond to the strongest, most reasonable interpretation of someone's point, not a weaker version.

5. Avoid Flamebait and Tropes

Steer clear of inflammatory remarks, generic tangents, or tired internet tropes.

6. Be Constructively Critical

If you disagree with a piece of content or someone's approach, teach us something by explaining your perspective.

7. No Political or Ideological Wars

Boardhigh is for board sports. Arguing over politics distracts from our shared passion.

8. Commenting on Reading

Don't accuse others of not reading the article. Simply reference what the article states (“The article mentions…”).

9. Find the Interesting Angle

Don't latch onto the most provocative snippet just to complain. Look for the core board sports topic to engage with.

10. Accounts and Identity

Throwaway accounts are okay for sensitive info, but don't routinely create new accounts. Be part of the community.

11. Formatting for Emphasis

Don't use ALL CAPS. Instead, put *asterisks* around words to italicize them.

12. Flagging vs. Feeding

If something is spam or blatantly off-topic, flag it rather than reply. Don't comment just to say you flagged it.

13. Voting on Comments

Don't comment about the score of a comment. That never helps and isn't interesting to others.

14. “Boardhigh is Becoming XYZ”

Please don't claim Boardhigh is “becoming Reddit” or any other site. That's an age-old complaint and adds no value.
